I recently did a workout with my track team that over the years has been a very good indicator of end of season mile time, that is we do 2x4x400 w/1 min. Rest between each rep and 10 mins. Rest between sets. In this workout, my better set was a 4:43. My question is, if I do actually run that time by the end of the season, what am I looking at as a realistic 5k time by the time State XC (Nov. 1 in my state) rolls around? Just to clear something up though, I haven't run in the 17s yet, my 5k XC PR is actually very slow compared to my track times (19:17), but this is mostly due to the fact that my career has been riddled with injuries, and that PR was from very early last fall, before I sustained a season ending stress fracture.
